November 17, 2003 — University of Illinois The University of Illinois has agreed to pay $2,003,290.78 to settle qui tam claims brought by a surgeon, and private relator, Dr. Raymond Pollak. The allegations of the case were that the University’s Medical Center at Chicago billed Medicare and Medicaid for unnecessary hospitalizations and services. As part of a settlement, the relator who filed the qui tam claims, Ms. Pollak, is to receive $250,411.35 for having filed the claims. See U.S. Dept of Justice Press Release 11/17/03 |
