March 13, 2007 — Amerigroup Illinois and Amerigroup Corporation A judge has awarded $334,365,000 in a case filed under the Illinois Whistleblower Reward and Protection Act (WRPA) by private relator, Cleveland Tyson. The allegations of the case were that Amerigroup Illinois and Amerigroup Corporation had committed “systematic and extensive fraud in the Medicaid program”. Under the WRPA, Mr. Tyson is expected to receive between 15% and 25% of the monies recovered by the government, for having filed the WRPA case. See Illinois Attorney General Press Release 3/13/07 |
